Rabbit Show Roundup

Well, I haven't posted for quite awhile due to a very hectic work schedule and showing when not at work. 2007 has been a good year for the rabbits here. We had a great time at the ARBA convention in Michigan placing in the top 10 with every entry and Shepherds Bluebell (blue tort doe) placed 4th colored senior doe. I was happy with her placemet, considering she was a replacement for my original entry that molted. She went on to to win 2 Best Reserves at the Berryville, Va. shows and ended up with 5 G.C. legs.

Shepherds Miro( REW buck), also had a very good year with 5 BOS, 2 BOV and 1 BOSV and granded with 5 G.C. legs. He still has his coat and will be shown at the Pa. Convention this weekend. So glad I didn't sell him as a baby. His half brother Neptune (blue tort buck) has 2 G.C. legs so far winning BOSV twice. We hope to finish his wins this weekend depending on the competition.

Shepherds Pandemonium (tort doe) has granded with 2 BOB, 1 BOV and 1 first junior doe. She still has a coat and she might even come this weekend. Her half sister will be around this spring.

Shepherds New Pearl (Pearly Mae, REW doe) has finished her show carreer with 3 G.C.legs and will be bred shortly. She is Neptunes sister and has a killer body.

Shepherds Stardust (Rew doe) has also completed her Grand Championship with 6 legs and has 5 BOV and 3 first place junior does. She is the daughter of Shepherds Natty, BOS at NARBC nationals, 2006.

This spring, I am hoping to do well with Shepherds Sensation (REW doe) , daughter of Serendipity ( sister to the BIS ARBA 2005) and Shepherds Natty. She has a really beautiful silky, coat and a nice, short compact body.

G.C. Shepherds Aris (REW doe), winner of BOB show A and BIS specialty at last years PA. Convention, is the proud mom of 4 little white babies. It looks like 2 does and 2 bucks so far but it is still hard to tell. She is such a good mom and keep the babies right by her at all times. Possibly, there may be some babies for sale depending on what stays. I kept all the bunnies from the litter Aris came from.

G.C.Shepherds Aster ( Chocolate tort, an Aris sister) and G.C.Shepherds Muddpuddle ( chocolate doe) should be due next week with, I hope, some babies with color. The following week will be Shepherds Tailspin and Shepherds Lilah, I hope. Both blacks.

Spring winnings

As you can see, I haven't entered any news lately. I have been away for my job down in Richmond, Virigina and running back and forth to shows. The Long Island show was a lot of fun getting to see old friends and visiting that beautiful location. Plus, it is only 1 1/2 hours from home which is a plus. Countrysides Wiseguy won the BOB in show "A" at 5 months old. He comes from Colin Burns and was owned by Patti Piscetelli. She was going out of rabbits so I was able to purchase him. The judge, Alan Platt had a very hard time choosing between Wiseguy and Aster who is the sister of Aris and was in a beautiful, full coat. Aster won BOS and finished her grand championship. Mudpuddle came in BOB at show "B" with ELS Brody taking BOS. Brody is another bunny that came from Patti bred by Emily Spencer in Michigan. Both got a leg and Mudpuddle is now granded also. There was a photographer for the club there and took some nice photos which I will try to post as soon as I figure out how.

This is my first blog and it is a little intimidating to be faced with a large blank page. I will be working towards getting photographs on the site but I am still learning how to use my camera so it may take some time. Sadly, I was snowed in and missed the Hamburg, Pa. rabbit show today. I was looking forward to it since I have never been to that show before. I really enjoy going to new towns that host the rabbit shows. You always find a new resturant or shop. Meeting new people and making new friends is always so much fun. Going to the York show two weeks ago and getting there on the wrong day turned out to be alot of fun. I found a flea market that had some beautiful, old carved pins carved out of mother of pearl. They had wire twisted into names over the carved shapes. One of them had "Nellie" which is the name of my oldest dog. She is kind of a sheep dog/German shepherd mix that we got from the pound 9 years ago. She is showing her age and I got the pin to always remind me of her.

The show season has been fun so far this year with Shepherds Aris taking quite a few Best of Breeds. I think she has won at least 9 or 10 Grand Champion legs at this point with one Best in Show at the United Angoras Specialty show at the Pennsylvania State Convention. She took BOB at the York show so I guess it was worth staying. Shepherds Mudpuddle (chocolate senior doe) took Best of Variety, which was such a surprise as she was up against Alex's tort doe that had won Best in Show youth at the Pa. convention. Judge George Long has such a nice touch with the angoras and the exibitors as he took the time to explain his choice had more to do with density, letting the exibitors touch Mudpuddles' coat. It seems she really did have more density. I will be looking forward to having babies from her and Shepherds Miro (nick named Tater tot, son of Tate and Nuance). Mudpuddle is also from Tate and Nuance is from Serendipity, sister of Reflections, winner of the Indy Convention BIS.
Aster and Audie have been doing well at shows with Aster needing one more leg to grand and Audie coming into a beautiful coat for spring shows. I will try to get some photos of them on the site tomorrow. I also have many new baby pictures but getting them to hold still is really difficult. Putting them into a small basket has helped.
